DIPW Launches ‘Scientific Translation’ and ‘Scientific Article’ Workshops at Cairo International Book Fair

The Dubai International Program for Writing (DIPW), an initiative by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), has launched two specialized workshops, ‘Scientific Translation’ and ‘Scientific Article’, at the Cairo International Book Fair 2025. These workshops, held from January 23 to February 5, aim to empower young writers and researchers by enhancing their academic writing and translation skills.

The ‘Scientific Article’ workshop is tailored for journalists and media professionals interested in scientific writing. Participants receive training in crafting compelling articles on topics such as technology, medical sciences, and space research. The workshop equips attendees with essential language and research skills, enabling them to produce in-depth, reader-friendly articles of at least 2,000 words. This initiative aligns with MBRF’s mission to enrich the Arabic library with high-quality scientific literature and develop a new generation of researchers and thought leaders.

The ‘Scientific Translation’ workshop, another key DIPW initiative, focuses on specialized scientific translation. Participants work alongside expert translators and industry professionals, acquiring the necessary skills to translate scientific books and research papers into Arabic. This effort aims to make scientific knowledge more accessible to researchers, students, and institutions across the Arab world.

His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, highlighted the significance of these workshops in bridging the gap between academic research and the needs of the workforce. He stated: “Our objective is to create an ecosystem that fosters a culture of scientific excellence. By equipping young talents with academic writing and translation skills, we strengthen communication between Arabic content and the global scientific community.”

He added: “Investing in young minds is essential for advancing research and positioning Arab scholars and professionals on the global stage.”

The ‘Scientific Translation’ workshop further reinforces MBRF’s commitment to enhancing the Arabic library with translated scientific content. Through similar initiatives, MBRF has published key scientific books and provided opportunities for emerging translators to contribute to knowledge dissemination.

DIPW remains dedicated to promoting academic excellence and nurturing creative talent, continuing to host workshops and events at the Cairo International Book Fair and beyond.
