UAE Residents Urged to Observe Shawwal Crescent on Saturday

The UAE Fatwa Council has called upon Muslims in the country to sight the crescent moon of Shawwal on the evening of Saturday, March 29, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid Al Fitr. Residents who spot the moon are encouraged to report their sighting to the official moon-sighting committee.

The UAE’s Astronomy Centre has noted that the crescent may not be visible in most parts of the world, including the Arab and Islamic regions, even with advanced observation methods. Based on astronomical calculations, Ramadan is expected to last a full 30 days, with Eid Al Fitr likely to fall on March 31.

Earlier, UAE authorities confirmed that Eid holidays for both public and private sector employees would begin on Shawwal 1 and conclude on Shawwal 3, as per the Islamic calendar. The unified holiday policy ensures that all workers receive equal breaks throughout the year.
