The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has commemorated Union Pledge Day, describing the national occasion as a defining milestone that renews the UAE's commitment to unity, sustainable development, and the values established by the nation's Founding Fathers.

In a statement marking the occasion, Abdulaziz Al Mulla said Union Pledge Day, observed annually on July 18, commemorates the historic meeting during which the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the Rulers of the Emirates signed the Union Document and the UAE Constitution, proclaimed the Union Statement, and announced the name of the State, laying the foundations for the establishment of the UAE on December 2, 1971.

Al Mulla said the occasion offers an opportunity to reflect on the milestones of the Union's journey while drawing inspiration from the values that have guided the country's remarkable progress.

He reaffirmed the Authority's commitment to preserving national unity and continuing to work collectively to advance the UAE's development and prosperity, emphasising the importance of teamwork and dedication in supporting the nation's future ambitions.

Reinforcing National Identity

According to the FTA Director General, Union Pledge Day strengthens the values of unity, national cohesion, and identity while celebrating the UAE's achievements and long-term vision.

He noted that the occasion also serves to deepen the sense of belonging and responsibility among everyone living in the UAE by increasing awareness of the historic events that led to the country's formation.

Al Mulla added that educating future generations about the nation's history, as well as recognising the vision, dedication, and sacrifices of the Founding Fathers, remains essential to preserving the legacy that has transformed the UAE into a global model for development and leadership.

The Federal Tax Authority said the observance reflects the country's continued commitment to building on the principles of unity and cooperation that have shaped the UAE's success over the past five decades.
