Government of Fujairah Signs Agreement to Purchase Gasoline Output from Etihad Refinery
The Government of Fujairah has signed an agreement with Etihad Refinery, a subsidiary of Etihad Energy Holding PJSC, to purchase the refinery’s gasoline production, reinforcing the emirate’s long-term strategy to strengthen energy security and expand its role as a regional and global hub for petroleum industries and logistics.
The agreement marks a significant step in supporting strategic energy projects while contributing to the sustainability of the UAE’s downstream petroleum sector. It also aligns with Fujairah’s broader economic development objectives by enhancing the emirate’s energy infrastructure and strengthening partnerships across the energy industry.
His Excellency Mohammed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Emiri Diwan in Fujairah, said the agreement reflects the Government of Fujairah’s vision to reinforce energy security, strengthen the emirate’s position as a global energy hub, support sustainable economic development, and enhance collaboration to further develop the energy sector.
The long-term commercial agreement is designed to support the development of the Etihad Refinery project by establishing a stable framework for the purchase of its gasoline output. The initiative is expected to improve the refinery’s long-term sustainability, strengthen the petroleum supply chain, and advance the UAE’s strategic focus on expanding value-added downstream industries.
The first phase of the Etihad Refinery project will have a planned processing capacity of approximately 15,000 barrels per day, with operations focused primarily on converting naphtha into Euro 5-compliant gasoline. The refinery will also produce additional refined petroleum products to meet demand in both domestic and regional markets.
The agreement underscores Fujairah’s continued investment in strategic energy infrastructure while supporting the UAE’s efforts to enhance refining capacity, strengthen fuel security, and drive sustainable industrial growth.
