UAE Economy Minister Highlights Unity and Sustainable Growth on Union Pledge Day
UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri has affirmed that Union Pledge Day reflects the values of unity, cohesion, and shared purpose that laid the foundation for the United Arab Emirates, while reaffirming the country's commitment to sustainable economic growth and global competitiveness.
In a statement marking Union Pledge Day, Al Marri said the occasion commemorates the historic meeting on 18 July 1971, when the late Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the Rulers of the Emirates signed the Declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution, establishing a nation united under one flag and creating the foundations for long-term prosperity.
He noted that the national occasion, established by Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, provides an opportunity to reflect on the UAE's development journey and the core values that have shaped its success, including loyalty to the nation's leadership, collaboration, and a strong national identity.
Al Marri said the UAE's progress demonstrates that the principles of the Union continue to drive the country's development and prosperity, enabling it to navigate global challenges while advancing across key sectors, particularly the economy.
He added that the ministry remains committed to introducing innovative economic policies and initiatives that support sustainable growth, strengthen competitiveness, and foster innovation. These efforts, he said, are aligned with the objectives of the 'We the UAE 2031' vision, which seeks to position the UAE among the world's leading nations across multiple sectors.
The minister concluded by reaffirming the government's commitment to building on the legacy of the UAE's Founding Father and the country's leadership by continuing to develop an advanced, diversified, and future-ready economy.
