UAE Adopts National Programme to Strengthen Statistical System, Says Bin Touq

The UAE has adopted a National Programme for the Development of the Statistical System, a move aimed at enhancing the country's statistical capabilities, improving economic policymaking and providing more accurate data on emerging sectors, according to H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism.

Bin Touq said the programme, adopted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, reflects the maturity and credibility of the UAE's national statistical system and supports the country's transition towards a knowledge- and innovation-driven economy.

Enhancing Economic Data and Transparency

The minister said the initiative will strengthen the measurement of key growth sectors, including the digital economy, tourism, services and investment, ensuring that national statistics more accurately reflect the size and diversity of the UAE's economy.

He noted that comprehensive reviews of statistical systems are common practice among advanced economies as data sources continue to expand.

According to Bin Touq, the programme will provide investors, policymakers and international institutions with more transparent, reliable and internationally comparable economic data, helping reinforce confidence in the UAE's economic landscape.

Supporting Evidence-Based Policymaking

Bin Touq said the programme marks a new phase of cooperation and integration among national entities by establishing unified statistical methodologies across the country.

He added that strengthening the national statistical system will support the development of proactive economic policies and strategies based on accurate, comprehensive data, enabling more effective decision-making and long-term planning.

The initiative is also expected to help the UAE keep pace with rapid economic transformation while supporting future-focused policymaking across various sectors.
