The Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (SLC) has marked Union Pledge Day, describing the national occasion as a reminder of the values of unity, solidarity, and shared purpose that laid the foundation for the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement, Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar said Union Pledge Day commemorates the historic meeting during which the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the Rulers of the Emirates signed the Declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution, establishing the foundations of the nation.
He noted that the occasion occupies a special place in the country's national memory and continues to reflect the enduring principles upon which the UAE was built.
Renewing Commitment to the UAE's Vision
Dr. bin Meshar said Union Pledge Day provides an opportunity to honour the legacy of the Founding Fathers while renewing loyalty to the UAE's leadership and its forward-looking vision for national development.
He added that the occasion reinforces the country's commitment to strengthening its position as one of the world's most advanced and future-ready nations.
Advancing a Modern Legislative Framework
The Secretary General said the Supreme Legislation Committee draws inspiration from the values of the Union in its efforts to develop a progressive legislative ecosystem capable of addressing current needs while supporting the UAE's future ambitions.
According to Dr. bin Meshar, the Committee remains committed to strengthening Dubai's legislative framework in a way that promotes innovation, supports sustainable development, and reinforces the UAE's leadership across various sectors.
The statement highlights the Committee's ongoing role in developing modern legislation that aligns with the nation's long-term vision while upholding the principles established by the UAE's Founding Fathers.
