UAE and India Sign Historic MoU on Polar Research
In a groundbreaking development, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Republic of India have solidified their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by signing a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on polar research. This first-of-its-kind agreement between the two nations highlights their shared commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and addressing global climate challenges.
The MoU was signed during the 15th UAE-India Joint Committee Meeting between the Emirates Polar Program and India’s National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR). The agreement was formalized by H.E. Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister for Energy and Sustainable Affairs and Deputy Chair of the UAE Polar Mission Steering Committee, and Dr. Ravichandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
Strengthening Scientific Collaboration
This strategic collaboration aims to bolster joint efforts in polar research, academic exchanges, and capacity building. The UAE, leveraging India’s vast expertise in polar science, seeks to enhance its capabilities and inspire a new generation of scientists.
