‘Bil Arabi’ 2024: Promoting Arabic Language in the Digital Era
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) concluded the 12th edition of its flagship initiative, ‘Bil Arabi,’ aimed at empowering youth and reinforcing the use of the Arabic language in everyday life and digital platforms. The campaign coincided with World Arabic Language Day, celebrated annually on December 18.
This year’s campaign attracted wide participation, featuring interactive activities at popular shopping malls across the UAE, such as City Centre Mirdif and Etihad Mall in Dubai, City Centre Al Zahia in Sharjah, and City Centre Ajman. The initiative also extended beyond UAE borders, with events held in Bahrain, Egypt, the UK, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan. The hashtag #بالعربي gained significant traction on social media, amplifying the campaign’s reach.
Promoting Arabic in the Modern World
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, praised the initiative’s success in fostering a strong Arab knowledge identity and integrating Arabic into daily and digital spheres. He noted:
"The ‘Bil Arabi’ initiative inspires younger generations to use Arabic for creative expression and effective communication, demonstrating its adaptability and relevance in the modern world."
The campaign included a high-profile panel discussion in collaboration with UNESCO, the Arab Council for Social Responsibility, and the Association of Arab Universities. The discussion emphasized Arabic’s historical significance as a language of literature, science, and culture. It also addressed the need to enhance Arabic digital content and the importance of encouraging its daily use, especially among younger generations, to maintain their connection to cultural heritage.
Interactive Activities and Global Participation
The 2024 edition featured engaging activities, including storytelling sessions for children, interactive competitions, and an innovative ‘Talking Hologram’ experience. Other highlights included a ‘Selfie Screen’ with heritage-inspired backgrounds and panel discussions spotlighting the linguistic and cultural contributions of Arabic.

‘Bil Arabi 2024’ was supported by key strategic partners, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, and Ahlia University in Bahrain. Sponsors such as Al-Etihad Co-operative Insurance Co., e&, and Dubai Media Incorporated played a significant role in the initiative’s success. Media sponsorship came from Alghad TV Channel, Al Arabiya Channel, and others, ensuring the campaign’s widespread visibility.
