Ethara and Oak View Group Assume Operations of Zayed Sports City
Zayed Sports City, a premier venue for sports and entertainment in the region, is now officially operated by Oak View Group (OVG) Middle East and Ethara. The new operators have also announced key leadership appointments to enhance the venue's position as a top destination for events and activities.
Danny Klima has been named General Manager, bringing over two decades of expertise in live events, entertainment, and venue management. Other key appointments include Mohamed Bu Debs as Corporate Services Executive Director and Christoff Cronje as Operations Director. These leaders are tasked with driving Zayed Sports City’s growth and maintaining its legacy as a leading venue.
Transforming Zayed Sports City
Under OVG Middle East’s stewardship, Zayed Sports City’s facilities, including the iconic Zayed Sports City Stadium, International Tennis Centre, Khalifa International Bowling Centre, Zayed Sports City Ice Rink, and Pavilion, are set to experience transformative growth. This aligns with the group’s vision of elevating the region’s venue and hospitality industry.
Jessica Koravos, President of Oak View Group International, expressed her enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to announce our role as operators of Zayed Sports City and welcome our new management team. A Legacy of Excellence
Since its inauguration in 1980, Zayed Sports City has hosted numerous landmark events, including the Mubadala World Tennis Championships, FIFA Club World Cup, AFC Asian Cup, UAE National Day celebrations, and the Special Olympics World Games. The venue has also welcomed prominent dignitaries like Pope Francis and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Looking ahead, General Manager Danny Klima is focused on further enriching Zayed Sports City’s offerings. “It is a privilege to lead such a revered destination. Upcoming Highlights
As part of its ongoing commitment to hosting world-class events, Zayed Sports City will welcome Coldplay for four sold-out performances of their ‘Music of the Spheres’ World Tour on January 9, 11, 12, and 14, 2025. This historic event is set to become the UAE’s largest-ever ticketed music event, solidifying the venue’s reputation as a hub for major entertainment.
