LEPAS ships first L8 PHEV SUVs to Middle East ahead of regional launch
LEPAS, Chery Group's new mid-to-premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand, has shipped its first batch of LEPAS L8 PHEV sport utility vehicles to the Middle East, marking a key milestone in the company's global expansion strategy and the beginning of its "Year of Delivery."
The initial shipment departed from Guangzhou Nansha Port and is destined for key regional markets, including the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, ahead of the brand's official Middle East launch.
According to the company, the upcoming regional launch will introduce LEPAS's brand strategy and product portfolio to Middle Eastern consumers as it seeks to establish a strong presence in one of the world's fastest-growing markets for new energy vehicles.
The expansion comes as Gulf countries continue to accelerate the adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles through supportive government policies, investments in charging infrastructure and consumer incentives aimed at promoting cleaner transportation.
The LEPAS L8 PHEV is the first model to enter the region, with additional vehicles—including the L6 EV, L4 EV and L6 PHEV—scheduled for launch in the coming months as the company broadens its regional lineup.
LEPAS also announced plans to introduce its upgraded Super Intelligent Valet Parking (SIVP) system in the Middle East later this year, building on its existing intelligent parking technologies as part of its focus on connected and smart mobility.
Designed as a five-seat SUV, the LEPAS L8 PHEV is built on the Intelligent LEX Platform and incorporates the company's Leopard Aesthetics design philosophy, featuring bold exterior styling and a premium cabin tailored to regional customer preferences.
The vehicle offers a 2,800mm wheelbase, UV-insulated heat-reducing glass and an intelligent climate control system capable of lowering the cabin temperature by 32°C within five minutes, features aimed at improving comfort in the Middle East's hot climate.
Powered by the LEPAS Super Hybrid system, the SUV delivers a combined driving range of more than 1,300 kilometres while achieving a combined fuel consumption of 2.38 litres per 100 kilometres, making it suitable for both city driving and long-distance travel.
The brand is built around the "Drive Your Elegance" philosophy and focuses on three core pillars Leopard Aesthetics, Elegant Technology and Exquisite Space to deliver premium new energy vehicles designed for global markets.
LEPAS said it is continuing to expand its international footprint across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America, while following Chery Group's localisation strategy of "In somewhere, For somewhere, Be somewhere" to develop products and services tailored to the needs of individual markets.
