Changan launches second-generation UNI-S in Saudi Arabia, expands Middle East presence

Changan Automobile has officially launched the second-generation UNI-S in Saudi Arabia, strengthening its expansion strategy across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) following the model's earlier debut in South Africa.

The launch marks the vehicle's second international introduction, with the company confirming that additional rollouts across GCC markets are planned in the coming months as it continues to expand its regional footprint.

Designed as a premium SUV offering advanced technology and comfort, the new UNI-S introduces major upgrades across design, intelligent technology, comfort and performance.

The exterior adopts Changan's new "stability and harmony" design philosophy, featuring redesigned shield-inspired front lighting, a distinctive grille, updated taillights and newly styled alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin has been upgraded with premium soft-touch materials to enhance overall comfort and refinement.

The SUV is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch HD central touchscreen powered by the MediaTek 8675 processor, delivering an enhanced intelligent cockpit experience.

Its SDA interactive system offers extensive personalisation features, while the vehicle includes an advanced suite of driver assistance technologies, such as Integrated Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Braking (RCTA/B) and remote parking assistance.

Connectivity features include wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, integrated entertainment applications including Spotify and YouTube, as well as intelligent voice control supporting both English and Arabic.

Comfort has also been enhanced with what Changan describes as the segment's exclusive "Queen's Seat," featuring zero-gravity reclining, an eight-point massage function, a 60-degree leg rest, and ventilated front seats across all variants.

Additional premium features include 256-colour ambient lighting and an eight-speaker audio system.

For drivers seeking greater versatility, the second-generation UNI-S introduces an all-new 4WD Terrain System with six selectable driving modes, including dedicated settings for snow, mud and sand, enabling the vehicle to automatically optimise multiple onboard systems for improved all-terrain performance.

Mr Xiao, General Manager of Changan Automobile's Middle East and Africa Business Unit, said the Saudi launch represents an important milestone in the company's international growth strategy.

He noted that Changan's more than 30 years of presence in the Middle East has enabled the company to better understand regional customer preferences, adding that the new UNI-S has been engineered to combine advanced intelligent technology, strong performance and premium comfort for drivers in the Kingdom and across the region.

Changan said it has now recorded more than 500,000 cumulative vehicle sales across the Middle East and Africa, supported by an expanding distribution network in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait.

Alongside the UNI-S, the company continues to strengthen its regional lineup with models including the CS75 Plus, CS35 Plus, UNI-T, UNI-K and Eado Plus, offering customers a broad range of SUVs and sedans that combine technology, design and value.
