Dubai Police Warn Residents Against Fraudulent Insurance Companies
Dubai Police has issued a strong warning urging residents to stay alert against fraudulent insurance companies, particularly those operating through social media platforms with misleading and unrealistically low offers.
As part of an ongoing awareness campaign, authorities highlighted that unlicensed entities are increasingly targeting users online by advertising cheap insurance packages that appear attractive but lack legitimacy. These scammers often promise instant vehicle or health insurance coverage, pressuring individuals to make quick payments without proper verification.
According to officials, such offers are designed to exploit urgency, making it critical for residents to remain cautious and avoid deals that seem too good to be true.
This warning follows similar alerts from Ras Al Khaimah Police earlier this year, reinforcing concerns about the growing trend of online insurance scams across the UAE.
Dubai Police emphasised that all legitimate insurance providers operate under strict regulatory frameworks, ensuring transparency and protection for customers. Only licensed companies, brokers, and agents are authorised to sell insurance in the country, and any deviation from this should raise immediate concern.
Residents are strongly advised to verify trade licences and company credentials before making any payments, as unusually low pricing is often a clear indicator of fraud. Authorities stressed that awareness and due diligence remain the most effective safeguards against falling victim to such scams.
To combat these activities, Dubai Police continue to monitor fraudulent operations and take legal action against offenders. Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious cases through the eCrime platform or by calling the 901 non-emergency hotline.
With cyber fraud on the rise, staying informed and cautious is essential to protecting oneself from financial loss and deception.
