UAE Food Supplies Remain Steady As Prices Stay Stable, Says Minister
The UAE’s food supply remains stable and uninterrupted, with no signs of shortages or unjustified price increases, according to Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri following an inspection tour of Al Ain’s fruit and vegetable market.
The visit comes amid heightened regional uncertainty and increased demand during the Ramadan and Eid season, a period typically marked by higher consumption levels across the country.
During the inspection, the minister reviewed supply chains, stock availability, and pricing practices, confirming that daily deliveries are continuing at normal rates and markets are operating smoothly without disruption.
“We are working to ensure stability across all markets in the country,” he said, noting that authorities are monitoring prices, stock levels, and supply chain efficiency on a daily basis to guarantee uninterrupted availability of goods.
He further emphasised that products are readily available both in warehouses and on retail shelves, reflecting the strength of the UAE’s logistics network and strategic reserves.
The inspection also focused on ensuring compliance with consumer protection regulations, particularly monitoring for unjustified price increases and maintaining fair trading practices across retailers.
Officials confirmed that supply movement remains steady, with no unusual fluctuations in pricing or quantities, underscoring the resilience and flexibility of the UAE’s food supply chains, even during peak demand periods.
Authorities attributed this stability to the country’s advanced infrastructure, integrated stock management systems, and the ability to utilise alternative supply routes when needed.
As part of ongoing oversight efforts, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism has intensified inspection campaigns. More than 12,284 inspection visits have been carried out nationwide, resulting in 249 violations related to issues such as unjustified price increases, along with 905 warnings issued to suppliers and retailers.
Officials reiterated that any attempts at price manipulation, misinformation, or exploitation of market conditions will be met with strict penalties and fines under existing regulations.
The minister also urged residents to adopt responsible shopping habits, noting that balanced consumption plays a key role in maintaining price stability and ensuring continued availability of essential goods.
The inspection forms part of a broader national effort to safeguard market stability, strengthen supply chain resilience, and ensure transparent pricing across the UAE.
