Abu Dhabi Authorities Close Bangladeshi Restaurant Over Repeated Food Safety Violations

Authorities in Abu Dhabi have ordered the administrative closure of a Bangladeshi restaurant in Mussafah Industrial after inspectors identified repeated food safety violations that posed a risk to public health.

The decision was issued on Friday by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), which confirmed that Index Restaurant had failed to comply with food safety regulations despite multiple warnings.

According to the authority, the restaurant, which operates under commercial licence number CN-1759994, violated provisions of Abu Dhabi Food Law No. 2 of 2008, along with its associated food safety regulations.

In a statement, the authority said the closure followed repeated violations documented in food inspection reports and the establishment’s failure to implement effective corrective measures.

Officials noted that the violations represented a “serious risk to public health,” prompting immediate administrative action to protect consumers and ensure food safety standards are upheld across the emirate.

Regulators said the intervention was necessary to prevent potential health hazards and maintain strict compliance with Abu Dhabi’s food safety framework.

However, ADAFSA clarified that the restaurant may resume operations once it addresses all violations and fully complies with food safety requirements. The establishment will only be allowed to reopen after inspectors confirm that corrective measures have been implemented and standards have been met.

Authorities regularly conduct inspections across restaurants and food establishments in Abu Dhabi to ensure adherence to hygiene, storage, and food preparation regulations.
