Dubai Launches JLT Link Electric Bus Service with Dh3 Fares and Metro Connectivity
Residents, office workers and visitors in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) can now travel more conveniently across the community with the launch of the new JLT Link electric bus service, which begins operations on August 1.
The fully electric service connects residential and commercial clusters across JLT with DMCC Metro Station and Sobha Realty Metro Station, providing an affordable and environmentally friendly last-mile transport solution.
Two Routes Cover JLT Clusters A to Z
The JLT Link network operates across two circular routes, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the community.
Loop 1 serves the western side of JLT, covering Clusters A to N and connecting passengers to DMCC Metro Station. Buses on this route operate at 30-minute intervals.
Loop 2 serves the eastern section of JLT, covering Clusters O to Z, including residential and commercial areas around JLT Park, and provides direct access to Sobha Realty Metro Station. Services on this route arrive every 20 minutes.
Together, the two loops include 13 bus stops strategically located throughout the neighbourhood.
Operating Hours
The electric bus service operates throughout the week.
From Monday to Saturday, buses run between 6:30am and 9:30pm.
On Sundays, services operate from 9:30am until 12:30am, offering extended evening connectivity for residents and visitors.
Passengers can check real-time bus locations, route information and schedules through the JLT Link mobile application.
Dh3 Flat Fare with Digital Payment
Each journey on the JLT Link service costs Dh3.
Passengers are required to use the JLT Link app to add credit to their account and generate a QR code for payment before boarding.
The service currently uses its own digital payment system, with passengers scanning a QR code at the bus stop before boarding. Nol cards are not currently supported, according to the information provided by the operator.
No advance booking is required, allowing passengers to board the next available bus after arriving at their chosen stop.
Electric Fleet Designed for Accessibility
The service operates with a fleet of four fully electric buses, each accommodating 23 seated passengers.
The buses feature low-floor access to make boarding easier and include dedicated wheelchair spaces, supporting greater accessibility for all passengers.
According to DMCC, the electric fleet has been introduced to provide a quieter, more comfortable and environmentally sustainable transport option while reducing emissions within the JLT community.
Improving Last-Mile Connectivity
The launch of JLT Link is expected to enhance mobility by making it easier for commuters to travel between residential buildings, offices and the Dubai Metro network without relying on private vehicles for short-distance trips.
By connecting JLT directly with DMCC Metro Station and Sobha Realty Metro Station, the service offers a practical last-mile transport solution for one of Dubai's busiest mixed-use communities while supporting the emirate's broader sustainable mobility objectives.
