 Veracode, a global leader in application risk management, has announced the appointment of its co-founder Chris Wysopal as Chief Security Evangelist and Jens Wessling as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). These leadership changes come as Veracode continues to advance its role in helping organizations secure their software supply chains amid the growing challenges posed by the broad adoption of AI and increasing security debt.

Chris Wysopal, who co-founded Veracode and has been instrumental in shaping the application security testing space, will now serve as Chief Security Evangelist. In this role, he will leverage his 25 years of experience to advocate for Veracode’s products and services while mentoring the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. Wysopal expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, "Chief Security Evangelist is a natural evolution of my role and fulfills my passion for ensuring security is at the heart of software development, deployment, and maintenance."

Jens Wessling, who joined Veracode in March 2024 as Vice President and Chief Architect, has been promoted to CTO. With over 25 years of experience in cloud computing, data engineering, and software development, Wessling will now lead Veracode’s global technology strategy and oversee the company’s research and product security teams. Commenting on his new role, Wessling said, "I am honored to expand my leadership role at Veracode—a company that has always been at the forefront of software security. I look forward to contributing even more as we help organizations build, buy, and implement secure software."
