WaHa and Khalifa University Strengthen Partnership to Enhance Water Generation Technology
WaHa, a pioneering climate technology company, has deepened its collaboration with Khalifa University of Science and Technology to boost the energy efficiency and technological capability of its patented WaHa Vaporator® atmospheric water generation (AWG) system. The joint effort aims to support long-term water security solutions for the UAE and broader Middle East.
The strategic partnership will focus on optimizing the selection of advanced materials and improving the energy efficiency of the WaHa Vaporator®, a cutting-edge technology designed to generate potable water from atmospheric humidity. Known for its integration with AWG and HVAC systems, the WaHa Vaporator® delivers distributed, reliable, and cost-effective sources of clean water independent of traditional water infrastructure.
This initiative builds on an existing collaboration launched in April 2024, during which two versions of the WaHa Vaporator were installed and tested in Abu Dhabi. The most recent model has exceeded expectations, achieving 100% operational uptime and 99.9% reliability, while also enhancing energy efficiency and surpassing daily water production targets.
Professor Samuel Sheng Mao, Director of the ASPIRE Virtual Research Institute for Sustainable Energy and Professor of Practice in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Khalifa University, emphasized the significance of this collaboration:
“This partnership is a major step toward addressing water scarcity in the region. By merging our expertise in advanced materials with WaHa’s breakthrough AWG technology, we aim to deliver transformative water solutions that are both sustainable and scalable. The promising test results reinforce the technology’s potential to address water challenges in arid climates.”
Chris Kay, President of WaHa, echoed this sentiment, stating:
“We are excited to expand our partnership with Khalifa University. The exceptional performance of our latest WaHa Vaporator® in Abu Dhabi’s harsh environment validates the power of our technology. This collaboration fast-tracks our mission to provide reliable, energy-efficient water solutions to communities, governments, and industries across the Middle East.”
With water scarcity emerging as a critical global challenge, this partnership stands as a forward-looking model for innovation, sustainability, and collaboration in climate resilience and resource management.
