Changan launches second-generation UNI-S SUV in Saudi Arabia, expands Middle East footprint

Changan Automobile has launched the second-generation UNI-S in Saudi Arabia, marking the model's second market debut in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) following its introduction in South Africa. The launch forms part of the Chinese automaker's broader strategy to expand across the region, with additional GCC market launches planned in the coming months.

Positioned as a premium yet value-focused SUV, the new UNI-S features significant upgrades in design, intelligent technology, comfort and performance, targeting customers seeking a more refined driving experience.

The exterior adopts a design philosophy centred on "stability and harmony," featuring redesigned shield-shaped LED lighting, a new front grille and updated wheel designs. Inside, the cabin has been extensively redesigned with soft-touch premium materials, enhancing overall comfort and cabin quality.

The SUV is equipped with an advanced intelligent cockpit that includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch HD touchscreen powered by the MediaTek 8675 chipset. The new SDA interactive system offers enhanced personalisation, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice commands in English and Arabic, and entertainment apps including Spotify and YouTube improve connectivity.

On the safety front, the vehicle comes with an upgraded suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Integrated Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Braking (RCTA/B) and remote parking features.

Changan has also focused on passenger comfort, introducing what it describes as the segment's only "Queen's Seat," offering zero-gravity seating, an eight-point massage function and a 60-degree leg rest. Additional premium features include front-seat ventilation, 256-colour ambient lighting and an eight-speaker sound system.

Performance has also been enhanced with a new four-wheel-drive terrain management system offering six driving modes, including dedicated settings for snow, mud and sand. The system automatically adjusts key vehicle functions to optimise traction and handling across different road conditions.

Mr. Xiao, General Manager of Changan Automobile's Middle East and Africa Business Unit, said the Saudi launch represents an important milestone in the company's international growth strategy.

He noted that Changan has maintained a presence in the Middle East for more than 30 years, enabling the company to understand the needs of customers across the region. He added that the new UNI-S combines intelligent technology, strong performance and premium comfort to meet the expectations of Saudi consumers.

According to the company, Changan Automobile has sold more than 500,000 vehicles across the Middle East and Africa, while continuing to strengthen its presence in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait through an expanding dealer network and growing customer base.

The company's regional portfolio includes SUVs and sedans such as the CS75 Plus, CS35 Plus, UNI-T, UNI-K and Eado Plus, reflecting its strategy of offering vehicles that combine technology, design and value.
