Sharjah Digital Department Strengthens Workforce Readiness to Harness AI Applications

The Sharjah Digital Department (SDD) has partnered with Shams AI Club at Sharjah Media City (Shams) to enhance employees' artificial intelligence capabilities through a specialised workshop aimed at improving digital skills and supporting the emirate's ongoing digital transformation strategy.

The workshop, titled "Artificial Intelligence and Digital Media," forms part of SDD's broader efforts to equip its workforce with the knowledge and practical expertise needed to integrate AI applications into daily operations, enhance productivity, and improve the quality of institutional outputs.

The programme brought together employees from media, marketing, and design departments, focusing on practical applications of AI in content creation, digital marketing, media production, and workflow optimisation. Participants also explored how emerging technologies can improve organisational performance and operational efficiency.

Speaking about the initiative, H.E. Eng. Lamia Al Hosan Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah Digital Department, said that the successful implementation of artificial intelligence depends on developing skilled professionals who can apply the technology effectively in the workplace.

She said investing in employees' digital capabilities remains a strategic priority to ensure AI contributes to stronger institutional performance, greater efficiency, and improved government services.

Al Shamsi added that SDD is committed to creating a future-ready work environment by strengthening employees' digital competencies in line with the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2028, which aims to foster innovation, accelerate digital transformation, and empower government professionals to adopt emerging technologies.

The workshop covered a wide range of AI-related topics, including the evolution and fundamentals of artificial intelligence, language models, AI-powered content creation, digital media and marketing applications, prompt engineering, image and video generation, ethical AI practices, and the future skills required in an increasingly technology-driven workplace.

Through practical training sessions, participants gained hands-on experience in applying AI tools to streamline daily tasks, improve productivity, and produce higher-quality digital content.

The initiative reflects Sharjah's continued focus on building a digitally skilled government workforce capable of leveraging advanced technologies to support sustainable innovation and deliver more efficient public services.
