UAE Launches ‘A Day Without Accidents’ Campaign to Reward Safe Drivers

The Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Federal Traffic Council and police forces nationwide, has launched its flagship road safety initiative, A Day Without Accidents, offering drivers a unique incentive to practice safe driving.

Under the campaign, motorists who sign an online pledge to follow traffic laws and maintain safe driving habits before August 25, 2025, will be eligible for a deduction of four traffic points from their records. The reduction will be applied automatically on September 15, 2025, without the need to visit service centres.

The initiative coincides with the quarterly awareness drive A Safe School Year, which also begins on August 25, the first day of the new academic term. This campaign aims to promote road safety for all users, with a particular emphasis on protecting students as schools reopen.

Drivers who commit to the pledge are expected to comply with key traffic safety measures, including wearing seat belts, adhering to speed limits, maintaining safe distances, respecting pedestrian crossings, avoiding mobile phone distractions, and giving way to emergency vehicles such as ambulances, police cars, and official convoys.

Authorities hope the campaign will encourage greater public participation in reducing road accidents, enhancing safety awareness, and fostering a culture of responsible driving across the UAE.
