The Month of Ukraine in the United Arab Emirates Officially Begins

The Embassy of Ukraine in Abu Dhabi has officially launched the Month of Ukraine in the UAE, a large-scale initiative aimed at celebrating the nation’s culture, heritage, and spirit through a series of cultural, educational, humanitarian, and business events.

The month-long program seeks to highlight Ukraine’s strength, identity, and vibrant contemporary voice, fostering closer cultural understanding and cooperation between Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates.

The initiative began with a symbolic act — the opening of the “Book Oasis” bookshelf at the Embassy of Ukraine in Abu Dhabi. The project, a collaboration between the Embassy of Ukraine in the UAE and the Ukrainian Women’s Initiative in the UAE, represents the start of the Month of Ukraine through the lens of culture, language, and literature.

“Culture begins with the word.

Memory is preserved through books.
Reading creates a space for dialogue, trust, and mutual understanding,”
said H.E. Dr. Oleksandr Balanutsa, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Arab Emirates, during the opening ceremony.

Dr. Balanutsa emphasized that the “Book Oasis” is more than a collection of books—it is a living symbol of Ukraine’s enduring presence, language, and cultural continuity, reflecting values that Ukrainians preserve and carry forward wherever they are.

The Embassy will soon share details on how the bookshelf will operate and how visitors can participate in the book exchange program.

Throughout the Month of Ukraine, a wide range of events, meetings, and initiatives will take place across the UAE, showcasing Ukrainian art, music, business innovation, and humanitarian engagement, strengthening the bridge between the two nations and their people.
