SIG sells 9 filling lines, wins Best Packaging Innovation Award at Gulfood Manufacturing 2025
SIG has announced the successful sale of nine filling lines during its participation in Gulfood Manufacturing 2025, held from November 4 to 6 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The achievement underscores SIG’s growing role as a global leader in sustainable and high-efficiency packaging technologies.
The contracts reflect the strong market demand for SIG’s advanced aseptic filling systems, which allow long shelf life without the need for preservatives or refrigeration. The company’s flexible filling technology also enables producers to adapt to a wide variety of product formats and volumes, supporting the fast-paced innovation within the food and beverage industry.
Adding to its success at the event, SIG received the Best Packaging Innovation Award for its SIG Terra Alu-free + Full barrier packaging material. This breakthrough solution eliminates the aluminum layer traditionally used in aseptic cartons—cutting CO₂ emissions by up to 61% according to an independent ISO-compliant life-cycle assessment for Europe (EU 27+3). Despite this reduction in materials, the packaging maintains a 12-month shelf life and full compatibility with existing SIG filling lines.
Abdelghany Eladib, President and General Manager for India, Middle East and Africa at SIG, commented:
“We are pleased to announce the sale of nine filling lines at Gulfood Manufacturing, reflecting the strong demand for our sustainable and efficient packaging solutions. Winning the Best Packaging Innovation Award further validates our commitment to delivering high-performance solutions that meet the evolving needs of the food and beverage industry.”
SIG’s interactive booth at the event was designed around the full customer journey, featuring three thematic zones:
-
SIG Café, showcasing category and channel innovation;
-
SIG Supermarket, highlighting global and regional aseptic packaging solutions including cartons, pouches, and bag-in-box formats;
-
SIG On-the-Go, focusing on convenience and lifestyle packaging formats.
The company also hosted SIG Talks, a series of expert-led sessions discussing major trends such as sustainability, alu-layer-free solutions, affordable nutrition, digital packaging innovations, and the growth of aseptic packaging in Western Africa.
Further emphasizing its innovation agenda, SIG showcased a collaboration with Nutrition from Water (NXW) to develop algae-based protein beverages using aseptic packaging. The partnership aims to help bridge the nutrition gap in emerging economies by delivering accessible, protein-rich beverages in sustainable formats.
With multiple strategic collaborations, strong regional sales, and award-winning sustainable solutions, SIG’s presence at Gulfood Manufacturing 2025 reaffirmed its leadership in shaping the future of food and beverage packaging across the Middle East and beyond.
