Salik and Parkonic Roll Out AI-Powered Parking Across Dubai, RTA Announces Al Barsha South Road Closure Amid Infrastructure Upgrade
Dubai continues to accelerate its smart mobility agenda with two major developments aimed at transforming urban transportation and infrastructure.
Salik and Parkonic Launch Region’s First AI-Powered Autonomous Parking Solution
In a groundbreaking move, Salik Company PJSC—the exclusive toll gate operator in Dubai—and Parkonic, the UAE’s premier smart parking solutions provider, have teamed up with Dubai Holding to introduce the region’s first fully autonomous, AI-powered parking system across iconic communities in the city.
The advanced solution will manage more than 36,000 on-street and off-street parking spaces, fully aligned with Dubai’s Smart City 2030 and Future Mobility Vision. The system eliminates traditional barriers and manual inspections, offering a seamless, ticketless parking experience enabled by Parkonic’s AI platforms and Salik’s integrated, cashless payment infrastructure.
“This partnership is a milestone for urban mobility in Dubai,” said Imad Alameddine, CEO of Parkonic. “Together with Salik and Dubai Holding, we’re building a future where parking is seamless, intelligent, and user-centric… This collaboration goes beyond parking—it’s about preparing for autonomous vehicles and a fully integrated mobility ecosystem.”
The AI-powered system will reduce congestion, cut carbon emissions, and improve accessibility while supporting Dubai’s Net Zero goals.
RTA Temporarily Closes Al Barsha South Entry and Exit Points from Umm Suqeim Street
Meanwhile, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the temporary closure of entry and exit points to Al Barsha South from Umm Suqeim Street due to ongoing development work at the intersection.
Motorists are advised to follow road signs and use the following alternative routes:
The closure comes as part of the Umm Suqeim Street Development Project, a Dh332 million initiative currently 70% complete. The project includes an 800-metre tunnel with four lanes in each direction and aims to enhance connectivity across a 16km corridor stretching from Jumeirah Street to Emirates Road.
The upgrade will cover six key intersections, including those linked with Jumeirah Street, Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, and others—part of Dubai’s broader plan to improve traffic flow and infrastructure resilience.
Authorities encourage commuters to plan ahead and start their journeys early to avoid delays.
