Ras Al Khaimah Announces Temporary Closures at Key E311 Roundabouts Amid Roadworks

Authorities in Ras Al Khaimah have announced temporary traffic closures at key roundabouts along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) as part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades.

According to Ras Al Khaimah Public Services Department, the left turn and U-turn at the E311 roundabout have been closed to facilitate construction works currently underway.

Motorists heading towards E311 are being redirected to alternative routes, including U-turns at Mina Al Arab and Sheikh Khalifa City Road. Drivers are advised to follow on-site signage and traffic instructions to avoid delays and ensure smooth traffic flow.

The temporary closures form part of the broader Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Road (E11) development project—one of the emirate’s largest road expansion initiatives aimed at improving connectivity and reducing congestion.

Launched in September 2025, the project covers the stretch from Al Hamra Roundabout to the intersection with E311. In its first phase, the road is being expanded from two lanes to four lanes in each direction, alongside the addition of service roads to ease local traffic movement.

Infrastructure upgrades also include enhancements to utilities such as electricity, telecommunications, irrigation systems, and rainwater drainage, in addition to the installation of modern LED lighting.

The second phase of the project will introduce further improvements, including new bridges and tunnels at key junctions such as Dolphin Junction, the E11–E311 interchange, Red Tunnel, and Mina Al Arab Tunnel.

Authorities noted that traffic diversions will continue throughout the construction period, although additional lanes will be introduced where possible to minimise congestion and maintain traffic flow.
