L’Oréal Middle East Reinforces Sustainability Commitment at Dubai Summit, Signs UAE Climate Pledge
L’Oréal Middle East has strengthened its regional sustainability agenda through the L’Oréal For the Future Summit, held at its newly renovated Dubai office, bringing together government officials, sustainability experts, retail partners, and industry leaders.
The summit marked a significant milestone in the company’s environmental strategy with the announcement of its signing of the UAE Climate-Responsible Companies Pledge in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE).
The event highlighted L’Oréal’s transition from sustainability commitments to measurable action, reinforcing its long-term objective of contributing to climate resilience and responsible business practices across the region.
New Dubai Office Reflects Sustainability Vision
Hosted at L’Oréal Middle East’s newly transformed regional headquarters in Dubai, the summit showcased how environmental priorities are being embedded into workplace design and operations.
The office renovation incorporates energy-efficient systems and sustainable workplace practices, demonstrating how environmental principles are translated into day-to-day business operations.
According to the company, the office serves as a practical example of the L’Oréal For the Future programme, aligning with sustainability standards adopted across its global operations.
L’Oréal Signs UAE Climate-Responsible Companies Pledge
One of the summit’s key announcements was the formal signing of the UAE Climate-Responsible Companies Pledge, witnessed by Eng. Aisha Mohamed Al Abdooli, Director of Green Development & Environmental Affairs Department at MOCCAE.
The agreement aligns L’Oréal Middle East with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, reinforcing the company’s commitment to transparent and measurable climate action while supporting national decarbonisation goals.
The pledge moves beyond voluntary sustainability initiatives and integrates L’Oréal into the UAE’s broader environmental governance framework.
The company highlighted its global sustainability achievements, including being the only organisation to receive the CDP triple-A rating for ten consecutive years, recognising its performance in climate action, forest protection, and water stewardship.
Across operations in South Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East, and North Africa, L’Oréal reported that 100 per cent of sites now operate on renewable energy, while 65 per cent of ingredients globally are biobased or derived from abundant minerals.
Expanding Circular Retail and Refillable Beauty
The summit also spotlighted L’Oréal’s strategy to accelerate circular economy practices across the UAE’s retail ecosystem.
Building on its sustainability collaboration with BinSina Pharmacy, the company announced plans to introduce additional retail partnerships designed to scale sustainable packaging and supply chain solutions throughout the region.
L’Oréal’s refillable product portfolio now spans multiple categories including makeup, skincare, haircare, and fragrances, across brands such as Kiehl’s, Prada, YSL Beauty, La Roche-Posay, CeraVe, Kérastase, and L’Oréal Professionnel.
The company highlighted measurable environmental benefits through products such as Prada Paradoxe refillable fragrance, which reduces material use by:
- 44% less glass
- 67% less plastic
- 100% less metals
- 61% less cardboard
compared with standard packaging formats.
Additionally, L’Oréal confirmed that 100 per cent of its Point-of-Sale Materials (POSM) are now eco-designed, with suppliers actively engaged in monitoring and reducing carbon emissions.
Technology Supports Inclusive Beauty Initiatives
Beyond environmental goals, the summit emphasised social inclusion through technology-driven innovation.
L’Oréal Middle East announced the donation of more than 30 units of Lancôme HAPTA to the Al Noor Training Centre.
HAPTA is described as the world’s first handheld, computerised makeup applicator, designed to support individuals with hand-motion limitations, arthritis, Huntington’s Disease, and stroke-related mobility challenges.
Using motion-stabilising technology and intelligent sensors, the device enables users to apply makeup more independently and comfortably.
Commenting on the announcement, Laurent Duffier, Managing Director of L’Oréal Middle East, said the climate pledge demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting the UAE’s sustainability agenda while making responsible beauty more accessible across the market.
The summit concluded with a renewed focus on accelerating sustainable transformation within the beauty industry and reinforcing the message that environmental responsibility and commercial growth can progress together.
