Hamdan Foundation Completes Final Evaluation for 2024 Innovators Competition
The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has successfully completed the final evaluation phase for the 2024 Innovators Competition, an annual initiative organized by Fab Lab UAE. This critical milestone brings the competition closer to announcing winners who have demonstrated exceptional creativity, social impact, and practical feasibility in their projects.
Groundbreaking Projects on Display
This year’s competition showcased nine innovative projects addressing sustainability, safety, and quality-of-life challenges. Highlights include:
- A mind-controlled home automation system
- The Falaj water resource management system
- A sound wave-based solar panel cleaning technique
- StressSync, a stress management device
- A smart drowning detection bracelet
- A hydroponic system for home use
- A flexible shading system
- CrossSafe, a pedestrian safety enhancement project
- A project to promote groundwater sustainability
These projects reflect the ingenuity and ambition of young innovators in tackling real-world problems.
Leaders in Innovation
Dr. Mariam Al Ghawi, Director of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Center for Giftedness and Innovation, praised the high quality of submissions, stating:
"This competition underscores our commitment to empowering young innovators, offering them resources to transform ideas into impactful projects that enhance societal development and fortify the UAE’s leadership in science and technology."
Process and Support for Winners
Out of 137 participating teams, 45 met the eligibility criteria, and nine advanced to the final stage. The winners, set to be announced in December, will receive:
- A cash prize of AED 20,000
- A certificate of achievement
- Opportunities for local and international media promotion
- Technical support to commercialize their innovations
