Hamdan bin Mohammed gets briefed on Dubai Customs smart services and praises Al Kashif vehicle
During his official inauguration today of GITEX 2014; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum toured Dubai Customs stand and was briefed about the smart services DC offers to its customers and the public. His Highness was introduced to these services by H.E. Ahmed Sultan bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation.
Dubai Customs is now offering all of its services online via smart watches, following the launch today of 15 new services as GITEX kicks off. The newly launched set of services add to four other services that were rolled out through this innovative delivery channel last June, said Bin Sulayem.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum hailed the advanced technology features in Al Kashif vehicle, showcased at DC stand in the Dubai Airports pavilion.
Al Kashif is an eco-friendly commutable vehicle fully geared up with 16 high-tech inspection and detection devices, each of which designated for certain types of contraband. The vehicle, deployed in airports, has been developed in-house with the efforts of national staff from within the DC. The invention is also a winning model of the Innovative Idea Category at the 2013-2014 17th DGEP Awards. Al Kashif has notably increased the volume of seized narcotics and restricted medications; allowing inspectors to assess suspected items on the spot.
On the other hand, H.E. Sultan bin Sulayem noted that DC strives to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, for the Smart City and Smart Government as well as the recently- launched Happiness Indicator initiative, aimed at making government raising public wellbeing and happiness beyond satisfaction through services that exceed expectations.
Sultan Bin Sulayem added: We are seeking to accommodate His Highnesss vision stipulating that life momentum is gaining a higher pace day by day. Thus, when people perceive government services they surely aspire for saving time, effort and cost. This is course of work and subsequent achievements are geared towards supporting Dubais No 1 goal.
He then affirmed that in line with this farsighted vision, Dubai Customs has embarked upon a series of smart initiatives in last June, which included smart watch facilities and the DC (GPS) location service via smartphones and tablets. Today, we proudly announce the completion of delivering the rest of our services to be accessed 24/7 via smart watches. This is only one step ahead on our clear roadmap of success and innovation, as we bid upon the expertise and dedication of Dubai Customs employees to score even further leadership and success.
