Etihad Rail work causes temporary closure on Emirates Road
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has announced a temporary closure on Emirates Road heading towards Sharjah at Al Badia Bridge, as part of ongoing works for the Etihad Rail project.
The closure will be in effect from Saturday, 1:00 am until Monday, 5:00 am, coinciding with the start of the school reopening period. According to the Ministry, the traffic disruption is necessary to enable the construction of a temporary bridge along the route.
Traffic heading towards Sharjah will be diverted via the Al Suyoh Tunnel towards Al-Mleiha Eastern Road. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, use alternative routes, and follow traffic safety instructions to minimize delays.
The Ministry noted that the project is part of broader infrastructure development aimed at supporting the UAE’s national rail network and easing long-term traffic congestion.
