Dubai’s RTA Reports 20% Surge in Nol Card Top-Ups via Digital Channels in H1 2025

Ticket machine transactions drop by 28% as digital adoption rises

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a significant 20% increase in Nol card top-up transactions through digital channels during the first half of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. This shift marks a growing preference among commuters for convenient, contactless services and reflects the city’s broader digital transformation goals in public transport.

The RTA’s latest data also shows a corresponding 28% decrease in top-up transactions via traditional ticket vending machines. This drop highlights the success of recent public awareness campaigns and infrastructure upgrades aimed at promoting the use of digital platforms, such as the RTA website and mobile payment applications.

The authority attributes this transition to a range of strategic measures, including the introduction of advanced digital machines for ticket sales and top-ups, the elevation of minimum top-up amounts at physical ticket offices and vending machines, and customer engagement initiatives that emphasize the convenience and speed of digital channels.

The move supports Dubai’s Smart City vision, aiming to make public transport more accessible, efficient, and tech-enabled for residents and visitors alike.
