Abu Dhabi Police Strengthen Disaster Response Capabilities with Specialized DVI Training
Officers receive advanced instruction in crime scene investigation and victim identification procedures
The Crisis and Disaster Management Department at Abu Dhabi Police has implemented a series of advanced training programs aimed at enhancing the force’s capabilities in Disaster Victim Identification (DVI). These specialized courses focused on areas such as crime scene investigation, information gathering, ante-mortem identification procedures, and the legal framework surrounding DVI operations.
Conducted in collaboration with the European Training Center for Disaster Victim Identification, the sessions brought together officers and specialists engaged in emergency response and field operations.
Participants were introduced to the complex responsibilities of Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) teams in evidence collection. They also gained insights into the critical role of family liaison officers in supporting victims' families and coordinating with relevant authorities.
The training included practical exercises on identification mechanisms, as well as information exchange protocols with both local and international partners. These efforts form part of Abu Dhabi Police’s broader commitment to enhancing preparedness and operational excellence in managing mass-casualty incidents.
