Dubai South and Majid Al Futtaim Partner to Develop AED 62 Billion Mixed-Use Community
Dubai South has signed a strategic agreement with Majid Al Futtaim to develop a landmark AED 62 billion mixed-use master community within Dubai South, marking one of the emirate’s largest integrated urban development projects.
The agreement was signed at Dubai South headquarters in the presence of Khalifa Alzaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, and Fadel Abdulbaqi Al Ali, Chairman of Majid Al Futtaim Holding.
The partnership agreement was formally signed by Nabil Alkindi, Group CEO of Dubai South, and Ahmed Galal Ismail, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Holding.
Spanning approximately 22 million square feet, the master-planned development will include a mix of residential, retail, lifestyle, hospitality, and entertainment offerings designed to support the growing population within Dubai South and surrounding areas.
A major shopping mall will anchor the project, positioning the development as a new retail, leisure, and lifestyle destination for residents and visitors.
The development is strategically located near Al Maktoum International Airport, which is expected to become the world’s largest airport upon completion. The project will also benefit from connectivity to key highways and major transport corridors linking Dubai’s economic and logistics hubs.
Nabil Alkindi said the partnership reflects Dubai’s continued economic resilience and supports the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 through the development of integrated and future-ready communities.
He noted that the project represents an important milestone in Dubai South’s long-term growth strategy while contributing to sustainable urban expansion across the emirate.
Ahmed Galal Ismail said the agreement demonstrates Majid Al Futtaim’s long-term confidence in Dubai’s growth and reinforces the company’s commitment to developing destinations that generate lasting economic value.
He added that Dubai South is emerging as one of the city’s most important future urban centres, making it a strategic location for the company’s next large-scale mixed-use community project.
The development is expected to strengthen Dubai’s retail, tourism, residential, and commercial sectors while supporting the emirate’s broader economic diversification and sustainable development goals.
The project further reinforces Dubai South’s position as one of Dubai’s most strategically important urban destinations, supported by major infrastructure projects, aviation connectivity, and long-term development planning.
