Janu Al Marjan Island Breaks Ground in Ras Al Khaimah, Set to Open in 2029

Marjan and Wynn Resorts have officially broken ground on Janu Al Marjan Island, a luxury waterfront development that will feature a five-star hotel, branded residences, and wellness-focused experiences. Scheduled to open in 2029, the project marks the partners' second joint venture on Al Marjan Island.

Located adjacent to Wynn Al Marjan Island—the UAE's first integrated gaming resort, which is expected to open in 2027—the new development is set to further strengthen Ras Al Khaimah's position as a leading luxury tourism and lifestyle destination.

First Janu Destination in Ras Al Khaimah

Janu Al Marjan Island will be the first Janu-branded property in Ras Al Khaimah, expanding Aman Group's footprint in the UAE as the emirate continues to attract world-renowned hospitality brands.

Designed by SCDA Architects, the waterfront project will combine luxury accommodation, branded residences, and wellness-oriented amenities, reflecting Janu's philosophy of contemporary luxury, meaningful connections, and wellbeing.

The development was first announced in November 2025, with the groundbreaking ceremony officially marking the start of construction.

Strengthening Al Marjan Island's Global Appeal

Arch. Abdulla Al Abdouli, Group Chief Executive Officer of Marjan, said the project represents another milestone in the long-term vision of transforming Al Marjan Island into a globally recognised waterfront destination.

He noted that attracting leading international hospitality brands and strategic investment partners will diversify Ras Al Khaimah's tourism offerings, enhance its global profile, and support sustainable economic growth.

According to Al Abdouli, Janu's modern luxury concept aligns with the emirate's ambition to create a world-class destination for visitors and investors.

Complementing Wynn Al Marjan Island

Max Tappeiner, President of Wynn Al Marjan Island, said the new development will complement the neighbouring integrated resort by introducing a distinctive hospitality experience to the destination.

He added that the close proximity of both properties is expected to create synergies, benefiting guests and residents while enriching the overall visitor experience on Al Marjan Island.

Aman Group Expands Its UAE Presence

Part of Aman Group, Janu derives its name from the Sanskrit word meaning "soul" and focuses on wellness, social interaction, and contemporary hospitality experiences.

Vlad Doronin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Aman Group, described Ras Al Khaimah as an ideal location for the brand's continued expansion into emerging luxury tourism markets.

He said Janu Al Marjan Island will offer guests and residents a vibrant environment where they can connect through shared experiences while enjoying the emirate's natural beauty.

The brand opened its first hotel in Tokyo in March 2024 and has additional developments planned in Dubai, Montenegro, Turks and Caicos, and Ras Al Khaimah.

With the addition of Janu Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah continues to expand its portfolio of premium hospitality developments as it strengthens its reputation as a regional hub for tourism, investment, luxury living, and leisure.
