RAKTDA and Huawei Mobile Services Strengthen Partnership to Drive Digital Tourism Innovation

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) and Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) 2026, reinforcing their partnership and establishing a framework for expanded collaboration in destination marketing, digital content development, and tourism innovation.

The agreement builds on a successful relationship that began in 2024 and reflects a shared commitment to leveraging technology, data-driven insights, and digital platforms to enhance destination visibility, improve traveller engagement, and support sustainable tourism growth.

Expanding Digital Destination Marketing

Under the new agreement, RAKTDA and HMS will explore opportunities to develop destination-focused content across Huawei’s ecosystem platforms, including Petal Maps, Huawei Themes, and other digital channels.

The collaboration will support marketing initiatives designed to increase awareness of Ras Al Khaimah among international audiences while showcasing the emirate’s tourism offerings through innovative digital experiences.

Both organizations will also work together on content partnerships, influencer engagement programs, and destination storytelling campaigns tailored to specific traveller segments, enabling more targeted and impactful outreach.

Leveraging Technology for Personalised Traveller Engagement

A key focus of the partnership will be the use of Huawei’s marketing technologies, advertising solutions, and consumer insight capabilities to strengthen destination campaigns and enhance audience engagement.

Particular attention will be given to attracting Chinese outbound travellers through personalised communications and targeted digital marketing strategies, helping Ras Al Khaimah expand its reach within one of the world’s largest travel markets.

The initiative aligns with the growing role of data and digital technologies in influencing how travellers discover, plan, and experience destinations.

Exploring New Tourism Experiences

Beyond destination promotion, the MoU outlines opportunities for collaboration on tourism-related events, consumer engagement initiatives, and developer-focused activities that bring together technology, travel, and experiential tourism.

The partnership aims to explore how Huawei’s ecosystem products and services can contribute to more connected and immersive travel experiences while supporting the emirate’s broader tourism objectives.

Building on Two Years of Collaboration

Commenting on the agreement, William Hu, Managing Director of Huawei Consumer Business Group Cloud Service, Middle East and Africa, highlighted the growing importance of digital engagement in the tourism sector.

“Tourism organisations are increasingly seeking innovative ways to engage travellers across digital channels and create more connected experiences. Over the past two years, we have worked closely with RAKTDA on destination marketing initiatives through Huawei’s ecosystem. This agreement reflects our shared ambition to build on that foundation and explore new opportunities across content, marketing and consumer engagement, helping destinations connect with travellers in more meaningful and effective ways,” he said.

Phillipa Harrison, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, emphasized the role of technology in modern tourism development.

“Technology and innovation play an increasingly important role in how travellers discover, plan and experience destinations. Our collaboration with Huawei Mobile Services has helped us connect with new audiences through innovative digital channels, particularly within the Chinese market. This agreement provides a framework to further strengthen destination visibility, enhance traveller engagement and support Ras Al Khaimah’s continued growth,” she said.

Strengthening Ras Al Khaimah’s Global Tourism Position

The signing took place during HDC 2026, Huawei’s annual developer conference that brings together ecosystem partners, developers, and industry leaders from around the world to explore emerging technologies and new opportunities across industries.

The latest agreement marks a significant step in the ongoing partnership between RAKTDA and HMS as both organisations continue to explore innovative ways to connect travellers with destinations through digital platforms, intelligent content strategies, and technology-enabled tourism experiences.

As competition for global travellers intensifies, the collaboration is expected to further strengthen Ras Al Khaimah’s position as a leading tourism destination while leveraging advanced digital tools to engage audiences across key international markets.
