FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem Meets Hungarian Prime Minister and Czech President at Hungarian Grand Prix

FIA President H.E. Mohammed Ben Sulayem held high-level meetings with Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar and Czech President Petr Pavel during the FIA Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix, discussing motorsport development, road safety, and stronger collaboration between the FIA and national authorities.

The meeting with Prime Minister Magyar took place at the Hungaroring, which this year marks 40 years since hosting its first FIA Formula One World Championship race.

Focus on Motorsport Growth and Tourism

During the discussions, both leaders reflected on the continued success of the Hungarian Grand Prix, one of Formula One's longest-running races, which attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators annually.

The talks highlighted the role of major international sporting events in promoting innovation, tourism, investment, and economic growth, while showcasing Hungary on the global stage.

Ben Sulayem also praised the contribution of Hungary's FIA Member Clubs—Magyar Nemzeti Autósport Szövetség and Magyar Mobilitási és Autóklub—for their work in advancing motorsport and mobility initiatives across the country.

Road Safety and Mobility Discussed

In addition to motorsport, the meeting focused on the FIA's broader mobility agenda, including initiatives to improve road safety through research, data-driven policymaking, and international collaboration.

Ben Sulayem reaffirmed the FIA's commitment to working with governments and industry stakeholders to make mobility safer, more affordable, and more accessible for all road users. He also expressed support for Hungary's Vision Zero strategy, which aims to eliminate road fatalities and serious injuries by 2050.

Meeting with Czech President

On the sidelines of the Grand Prix, Ben Sulayem also met Czech President Petr Pavel, who attended the race as a motorsport enthusiast and photographer.

The two leaders discussed their shared passion for motorsport, having previously met in Prague and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while exchanging views on the continued growth of the sport.

Commitment to Regional Motorsport Development

Commenting after the meetings, Ben Sulayem described the Hungarian Grand Prix as one of the championship's most iconic events and reaffirmed the FIA's commitment to expanding motorsport participation.

He said the FIA looks forward to strengthening its partnership with the Hungarian government and working alongside Magyar Nemzeti Autósport Szövetség and its President Zoltán Szujó to improve accessibility to motorsport and continue delivering world-class events across Hungary and the wider region.
