As World Art Day approaches on April 15, Dubai reaffirms its position as a thriving global hub for creativity and artistic innovation. Celebrated annually, the occasion highlights the city's vibrant artistic landscape, driven by the efforts of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), which continues to nurture a rich and inclusive creative ecosystem that welcomes both established and emerging talents.

Dubai’s unique blend of cultural diversity, innovation, and artistic vision makes it an ideal platform for creative expression. Art in the city reflects a multitude of styles and mediums, drawing inspiration from Dubai’s dynamic environment and multicultural identity.

Promoting Artistic Excellence and Inclusivity

In line with the “Quality of Life in Dubai” strategy, Dubai Culture encourages artists to express their visions while making art accessible to all segments of society. Through public-private partnerships and curated platforms, the Authority presents numerous artistic events including Art Dubai, World Art Dubai, Art Nights, and the Al Quoz Arts Festival—all forming part of the annual Dubai Art Season, a key celebration of artistic expression in the emirate.

To support the development of Dubai’s cultural and creative industries, Dubai Culture launched the “Dubai Cultural Grant” program, allocating AED 180 million over 10 years. This initiative supports a wide range of fields such as visual and digital arts, design, literature, heritage, public art, and performing arts. In its inaugural year, the program includes 18 distinctive grants, including the “International Art Exhibitions Grant,” “Piano Playing Grant,” “Campus Art Dubai Grant,” and “Talent Workshop Grant.”

A Platform for Regional and Global Talent

The SIKKA Art and Design Festival, one of Dubai's most prominent cultural initiatives, has become a cornerstone of the region’s creative movement. The 13th edition marked a record participation of over 364 artists from the UAE, Gulf, and beyond, who showcased around 350 artworks across 19 traditional houses in the historic Al Shindagha neighborhood. The area came alive with 13 vibrant murals, sculptures, and over 45 art installations, reflecting Dubai's cultural pulse and artistic vitality.

Dubai’s vision of transforming the city into an open-air museum is being realized through its "Art in Public Places" strategy, part of the Dubai Urban Plan 2040. Collaborations with institutions like Alserkal Art Foundation and Tashkeel have led to landmark installations such as "Wind Chime" in Al Shindagha and "Imagine" by internationally acclaimed artist eL Seed in Nad Al Sheba.

Elevating the Sculpture Movement

Further enriching the city's art scene, Dubai Culture organized the inaugural Dubai Sculpture Symposium, featuring more than 15 sculptors from countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia, China, and Ukraine. The event showcased a diverse range of sculptures and aimed to promote the significance of this timeless art form in the development of the cultural and creative sectors.
