Coca-Cola Al Ahlia Beverages Launches Solar Energy Project in Partnership with Emerge

Coca-Cola Al Ahlia Beverages Company (CCABC) has unveiled a 1.8 MW solar photovoltaic power plant at its Al Ain bottling facility in partnership with Emerge, a joint venture between Masdar and France’s EDF. The launch took place during the Energy Week Abu Dhabi Sustainability Forum.

This initiative aligns with the UAE’s National Green Agenda and reinforces Coca-Cola Al Ahlia’s commitment to environmental sustainability and renewable energy adoption.

Key Features of the Solar Project

  • Capacity: 1.8 MW solar photovoltaic power plant.
  • Technology: Incorporates bifacial solar panels, advanced inverters, and smart monitoring systems.
  • Environmental Impact:
    • Reduction of 1,566 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.
    • Energy equivalent to powering 300 homes annually.
    • Reduction in consumption of 3,600 barrels of oil per year.
  • Contribution: Meets 18% of the plant’s energy needs in phase one, with phase two increasing the contribution to 23% by year-end.

Leadership Statements

His Excellency Osama Amir Fadl, Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, emphasized:
“Sustainability in the industrial sector is a priority under the 300 Billion Project and the Made in the Emirates initiative, driving advanced technologies and investments in renewable energy to enhance self-sufficiency and competitive advantages for the UAE.”

Banu Karakulukcu Cetin, CEO of Coca-Cola Al Ahlia Beverages, remarked:

“The development of this solar plant demonstrates the critical role of clean energy solutions in achieving the UAE’s climate neutrality goals while balancing commercial and environmental needs.”

Made in the Emirates Forum
