Bahrain Polytechnic Launches Bloomberg Finance Lab to Enhance Financial Skills and Graduate Employability
Bahrain Polytechnic has partnered with Bloomberg to launch a new Bloomberg Finance Lab, marking a significant step toward advancing financial education and equipping students with industry-relevant skills for the global workforce.
The new facility supports Bahrain Polytechnic’s broader mission of developing a highly skilled workforce while contributing to Bahrain’s economic diversification goals through academic programmes aligned with national priorities.
Equipped with 20 Bloomberg Terminals, the lab places Bahrain Polytechnic among more than 1,200 academic institutions worldwide that integrate Bloomberg’s professional financial technology into teaching and research environments.
The Bloomberg Terminal provides access to real-time and historical market data, advanced analytics, financial news, and electronic trading tools, allowing students to gain hands-on experience using the same platforms utilised by global financial institutions, corporations, and policymakers.
Bahrain Polytechnic Chief Executive Officer Ciarán Ó Catháin described the initiative as a cornerstone of the institution’s Strategic Plan 2026–2029, reinforcing its commitment to developing global citizenship, collaborative education, and practical industry readiness.
He noted that the finance lab will directly support students enrolled in undergraduate and master’s programmes in banking and finance, fintech, and accounting, enabling them to build practical experience through access to live market data, advanced analytics, and simulated financial environments.
Students using the facility will also gain access to e-learning certification programmes, including the Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) course. Additional training will cover Bloomberg Terminal operations as well as subjects including investment, portfolio management, and financial risk management.
The lab will further support Bahrain Polytechnic’s academic community by serving as a dedicated space for research and applied financial studies.
Bloomberg LP Head of Middle East Rajiv Mirwani said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to preparing the next generation of Bahraini professionals with the skills, confidence, and international outlook needed to succeed in modern financial markets.
The launch of the Bloomberg Finance Lab highlights continued investment in future-ready finance education, supporting Bahrain’s ambitions to strengthen national talent capabilities and build a more competitive knowledge-based economy.
