Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai Extends Sports Partnership with ISD Dubai Sports City Through 2033

Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai has signed a new seven-year partnership agreement with ISD Dubai Sports City, extending a collaboration that has supported the school’s sports programme since its launch in 2021.

The renewed agreement strengthens RGS Dubai’s focus on sporting excellence, student wellbeing, and community engagement, while ensuring continued access to ISD Dubai Sports City’s premium sports infrastructure for both curriculum and extracurricular activities.

Under the agreement, students will continue to use a broad range of facilities across the ISD campus, including indoor training domes, outdoor pitches, athletics tracks, tennis courts, and the recognised RGS Rugby Park venue. The facilities support physical education classes, performance sport, training sessions, fixtures, extracurricular activities, and major school sporting events throughout the academic year.

Approximately 700 pupils access the facilities each week through curriculum sport, before-school extracurricular programmes, training and competitive fixtures. The partnership also supports delivery of up to three-and-a-half hours of scheduled PE and sport weekly, with capacity for sessions involving up to 180 students at one time.

Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai Principal Matthew Pearce said the partnership has become a central part of the school experience, helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and character through sport.

Meanwhile, ISD Dubai Sports City CEO Daniels Petrovs highlighted the long-term value of creating opportunities for students through sport and reinforcing Dubai Sports City’s role within the wider education community.

Over the past five years, the partnership has contributed to establishing RGS Rugby Park as a recognised venue for Dubai Affiliated School Sports Association league fixtures and school sporting events, welcoming visiting schools across the UAE during rugby competitions.

The facilities have also enabled RGS Dubai to host larger-scale events including senior school sports days and regional competitions such as BSME Games.

James Bennett said the partnership continues to create consistent opportunities for pupils by supporting both participation sport and performance pathways in a professional sporting environment.

With more than 500 years of heritage linked to the UK’s Royal Grammar School Guildford, RGS Dubai continues to position sport as a key element of student development through an integrated programme supported by both external facilities and on-campus amenities, including a 25-metre swimming pool and FIFA-approved football pitch.
