UAE Ministry of Education Launches NOVA AI Project to Drive Digital Transformation
The UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) has launched NOVA, a strategic initiative designed to drive comprehensive institutional transformation through artificial intelligence (AI), reinforcing the country's vision of integrating advanced technologies across government operations.
The project aligns with the UAE's national strategy to accelerate AI adoption in the public sector while strengthening the nation's position as a global leader in digital innovation and future-ready governance.
According to the Ministry, NOVA aims to enhance operational efficiency by creating an integrated institutional ecosystem that leverages AI and modern digital technologies to convert data into actionable insights. These insights will support faster, more informed decision-making while improving educational outcomes for students, teachers, schools and parents.
Her Excellency Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of Education, said the project reflects the Ministry's commitment to implementing the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to embed artificial intelligence and advanced data technologies into government operations.
"The NOVA project embodies MoE's commitment to implementing the directions of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to incorporate AI and advanced data technologies into government operations. The initiative marks a new phase of government innovation by redesigning and streamlining processes," Al Amiri said.
She noted that rapid global changes require education systems to become smarter, more flexible and proactive to effectively respond to the evolving needs of students, educators and the wider community.
"Education today is at the core of a rapid global transformation, which requires building educational systems that are smarter, more flexible, proactive and better equipped to respond to the needs of students, teachers and the wider community. AI-driven digital transformation is no longer an optional tactic but a national and institutional necessity," she added.
Al Amiri highlighted that NOVA represents a strategic shift toward a more agile institutional model focused on investing in people and strengthening national capabilities to use AI responsibly and effectively.
His Excellency Eng. Mohammed Al Qasim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, said the initiative builds on the Ministry's extensive investments in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, capacity building and data infrastructure over recent years.
He explained that NOVA seeks to unify institutional workflows across the Ministry and the wider education sector by establishing a transparent operational environment supported by reliable data, intelligent systems and advanced digital services.
The Ministry stated that the initiative forms part of the UAE's broader vision to create an innovative, technology-driven education system that equips future generations with critical digital skills while enhancing the country's global competitiveness in education.
