Alef Education supports uninterrupted learning for more than 246,000 UAE students during nationwide distance learning

Alef Education announced that it successfully maintained uninterrupted learning for 246,326 students across 518 schools in the UAE following the country’s nationwide transition to distance learning in March 2026, highlighting the resilience of the nation’s digital education infrastructure.

Through the Alef Platform, students continued their academic schedules without losing instructional time, demonstrating the platform’s ability to deliver education continuity at scale during changing learning conditions.

The achievement reflects the UAE’s strategic decision to adopt the platform as a national digital learning infrastructure for public schools in 2020, supporting long-term educational resilience across all seven Emirates.

Today, Alef Education continues to collaborate with the UAE Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) to provide students in Grades 5 to 12 with uninterrupted access to AI-powered, Arabic-first digital learning experiences.

Geoffrey Alphonso, Chief Executive Officer of Alef Education, said the continuity achieved during the distance learning period reflects long-term investment in scalable education infrastructure rather than a short-term response.

He noted that the platform serves as a foundational element of the UAE’s education ecosystem while reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting students through collaboration with national education stakeholders and private sector partners.

Nationwide reach across all seven Emirates

Alef Platform supported learning across a broad network of schools nationwide, including:

  • 118 schools in Abu Dhabi
  • 97 schools in Sharjah
  • 84 schools in Al Ain
  • 75 schools in Dubai
  • 48 schools in Ras Al Khaimah
  • 33 schools in Fujairah
  • 30 schools in Ajman
  • 24 schools in Al Dhafra
  • 9 schools in Umm Al Quwain

Academic engagement remained consistent

According to the company, student engagement levels remained aligned with traditional classroom performance throughout the distance-learning period.

Students completed an average of 30.81 lessons each, matching participation levels typically recorded during in-person instruction.

To support interaction and classroom participation, teachers created 86,951 interactive learning games, with students completing 85% of assigned activities.

AI tutoring expands support beyond classroom hours

Alef Education also highlighted the contribution of its AI-powered educational tools in extending learning support beyond standard school hours.

More than 15,000 students accessed Toki, Alef Education’s Arabic-first AI Tutor, for personalized academic assistance during periods when direct teacher support was unavailable.

The platform’s bilingual functionality, Arabic-first architecture, and native right-to-left design were identified as important factors supporting accessibility and student engagement.

The results reinforce Alef Education’s growing role within the education technology sector and demonstrate how scalable, AI-enabled platforms continue to support future-ready learning environments across the UAE and beyond.
