Ajman Department of Tourism Development and Emirates Autism Society Unite to Empower Individuals with Autism

The Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Emirates Autism Society (EAS) to enhance inclusivity and empower individuals with autism within the tourism sector. The agreement, signed in the presence of His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of ADTD, and Ms. Fatima Saif Al Matrooshi, Vice Chairperson of the EAS Board of Directors, underscores Ajman’s commitment to fostering social initiatives and sustainability in tourism.

The collaboration aims to utilize both entities' resources—including human capital, technical expertise, and technological capabilities—to improve services and strengthen partnerships that promote inclusivity. Through this initiative, ADTD and EAS will work together to develop programs that integrate individuals with autism into the tourism industry, providing them with training opportunities and career prospects, particularly in hospitality and tour guiding.

His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi stated, “Our partnership with EAS aligns with our vision of creating an inclusive and sustainable tourism experience in Ajman. This MoU will enable us to introduce innovative programs that empower individuals with autism and reinforce their role in society, in line with the UAE’s leadership vision for sustainable development.”

Ms. Fatima Saif Al Matrooshi added, “This agreement highlights our commitment to fostering community partnerships that enhance the inclusion of individuals with autism. By working alongside ADTD, we aim to create new opportunities that encourage their active participation in various sectors, including tourism.”

As part of the agreement, ADTD and EAS will implement tourism, cultural, and sports initiatives tailored to individuals with autism. These include dedicated training programs in the tourism sector, the promotion of agricultural products made by individuals with autism at tourism events, and the organization of inclusive activities such as the Run for Autism race.

Additionally, the partnership will see Ajman’s key landmarks illuminated in blue on World Autism Awareness Day, symbolizing support and raising awareness. Both organizations will collaborate on knowledge exchange, workshops, seminars, and training sessions to further promote an inclusive tourism environment.

This initiative reflects Ajman’s broader commitment to empowering People of Determination, ensuring their full integration into society while fostering awareness, inclusivity, and social cohesion.
