Zayed Sustainability Prize Demonstrates Global Reach and Impact with Over 5,900 Submissions
The Zayed Sustainability Prize, the UAE's pioneering global award for sustainability and humanitarianism, has officially closed entries for its 2025 awards cycle, receiving a total of 5,980 applications across its six categories from 156 countries. This US $5.9 million Prize has attracted submissions from small and medium enterprises (SMEs), nonprofit organizations, and high schools, with a notable increase in entries leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, 3D printing, and biotechnology.

Impact and Categories
Since its inception in 2008, the Zayed Sustainability Prize has transformed the lives of over 384 million people globally. The Prize recognizes achievements across six categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water, Climate Action, and Global High Schools.
- Health: Focus on enhancing access to healthcare and disease prevention through innovative technologies and community-driven programs.
- Food: Innovations in agricultural technology to address sustainable food production and food system resilience.
- Energy: Expanding sustainable energy access and integrating emerging technologies like hydrogen fuel systems and electric mobility.
- Water: Enhancing water accessibility through conservation, recycling, and advanced filtration techniques.
- Climate Action: Solutions addressing deforestation, carbon emissions, soil restoration, and biodiversity enhancement.
- Global High Schools: Youth-driven sustainable practices, including hydroponics, aquaponics, recycling, waste management, bioenergy, and bioproducts.
Evaluation Process
The Prize has now entered the evaluation stage. Submissions will be shortlisted by an independent research and analysis consultancy. A Selection Committee of globally renowned industry experts will then assess the qualified entries, followed by a Jury that will convene in October to select the winners for each category.

Prize Details
Each winner in the Health, Food, Energy, Water, and Climate Action categories receives US $1 million to expand the scope and scale of their sustainability solutions. The Global High Schools category awards six winners, representing six world regions, each receiving up to US $150,000.
