The Wilo Group and DP World have strengthened their long-standing relationship through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing sustainable infrastructure, smart logistics solutions, and artificial intelligence-driven innovation within the global water sector.

The agreement was signed at Wilopark in Dortmund, Germany, by Oliver Hermes, President and Global CEO of Wilo Group, and Abdulla Al Hashmi, Global Chief Operating Officer, Parks and Economic Zones at DP World. The signing ceremony was attended by Abdulla Al Khater, Head of the Economic Section at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Berlin.

Expanding Collaboration Through Innovation

The new agreement marks a significant step forward in the partnership between the two organizations, combining Wilo’s expertise in water technology with DP World’s global logistics infrastructure and supply chain capabilities.

Under the MoU, both parties will explore opportunities to implement AI-powered solutions across logistics hubs and ports, enhance supply chain efficiency, and develop sustainable infrastructure initiatives designed to address growing global water and logistics challenges.

Commenting on the agreement, Oliver Hermes highlighted the strategic importance of integrating advanced technologies into infrastructure and logistics systems.

“Expanding the partnership is a significant strategic step. We are linking Wilo’s expertise in water technology even more closely with DP World’s infrastructure and logistics capabilities. Harnessing the transformative power of artificial intelligence, we can implement joint projects that have a sustainable impact worldwide—in the water sector, the logistics industry and far beyond,” he said.

Hermes added that Wilo looks forward to deepening cooperation with DP World as both organizations pursue innovation-led growth.

Building on a Long-Standing Relationship

The expanded partnership builds on nearly two decades of collaboration anchored in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), where Wilo established its regional presence through its Green Fab manufacturing and operations facility in Dubai.

The facility, originally built almost 20 years ago, underwent a significant expansion last year, reinforcing Wilo’s commitment to the UAE and the wider Middle East region.

For DP World, the partnership reflects its broader strategy of supporting industrial growth through integrated logistics ecosystems and strategic collaborations with global manufacturers.

“This agreement builds on a long-standing partnership that has grown through Jafza over many years,” said Abdulla Al Hashmi.

“Combining Wilo’s engineering and technology leadership with DP World’s integrated logistics ecosystem will support smarter industrial operations, strengthen supply chain resilience and unlock new opportunities for manufacturers and customers across the UAE, Germany and wider global markets.”

Focus on AI and Sustainable Infrastructure

A key area of collaboration under the new agreement will involve evaluating the deployment of Wilo’s AI-integrated technologies across DP World’s logistics and port operations.

The companies will also explore ways to optimize Wilo’s global supply chain network while leveraging data-driven solutions to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.

Additionally, both organizations will assess opportunities for collaboration under the Wilo Global WATER AI Academy programme, which focuses on advancing knowledge, innovation, and skills development in the application of artificial intelligence within the water sector.

Beyond technology and infrastructure, the partnership aims to create a platform for knowledge sharing and talent development.
