UHM appoints Shadi Refai as Cluster General Manager in Kuwait

United Hospitality Management (UHM) has announced the appointment of Shadi Refai as Cluster General Manager for Arabella Beach Hotel Kuwait, Vignette Collection by IHG, along with a second hotel scheduled to open soon in Kuwait City.

The appointment marks another step in UHM’s regional expansion strategy as the hospitality group continues to strengthen its footprint across the Middle East.

Refai brings more than two decades of international hospitality experience, having worked with globally recognised brands including Hilton, Shangri-La, Sofitel, Four Seasons, Wyndham, and Centara. His professional background spans the Middle East, Asia, and the United States, with expertise in hotel openings, operational leadership, and commercial growth.

Before joining Arabella Beach Hotel Kuwait, Refai served as Hotel Manager at Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah, where he oversaw day-to-day operations and supported the property’s commercial performance in Dubai’s competitive beachfront hospitality market. He has also held senior positions including Director of Operations and General Manager throughout his career.

In his new role, Refai will oversee the strategic and operational direction of Arabella Beach Hotel Kuwait, focusing on enhancing revenue growth, market positioning, and overall commercial performance. He will also supervise the launch and operations of UHM’s upcoming hotel project in Kuwait, reflecting the company’s continued investment in the local hospitality sector.

Commenting on the appointment, Klaus Assmann, CEO for Middle East, India and Southeast Asia at United Hospitality Management, said Kuwait remains a strategically important market for the group. He noted that Arabella Beach Hotel Kuwait, as UHM’s first property in the country, plays a key role in the company’s regional growth ambitions.

Assmann added that Refai’s leadership experience would help strengthen the property’s market position and support long-term operational performance.

Refai said he was pleased to join Arabella Beach Hotel Kuwait during a significant phase of growth for the property. He added that he looks forward to working with the team to further enhance guest experiences and strengthen the hotel’s standing in the market.

The move comes as hospitality operators across the Gulf continue expanding lifestyle and luxury hospitality offerings amid growing regional tourism demand.
