The United Arab Emirates has secured the hosting rights for the 2029 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), marking a major milestone for the nation’s global economic standing.

The announcement was made by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, who described the decision as a strong vote of confidence in the UAE’s financial strength, institutional efficiency, and economic capabilities.

The high-profile event, set to take place in Abu Dhabi, will bring together central bank governors, finance ministers, and global policymakers from approximately 190 countries. The annual meetings are considered one of the most influential platforms for discussing global financial stability, monetary policy, and international economic development.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that hosting the event reflects the UAE’s growing stature on the global stage and the increasing trust placed in its economic leadership and governance frameworks.

The announcement was also welcomed by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who emphasised the significance of the forum in shaping global economic policies. He noted that the UAE’s successful bid underscores its pivotal role in advancing international financial stability and its proven capability to host major global events.

The 2029 meetings are expected to further enhance Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading international hub for finance and economic dialogue, while reinforcing the UAE’s reputation as a key player in the global economic landscape.
