UAE: Sheikh Mohammed Approves Over Dh1 Billion in Housing Applications for Citizens

Dubai’s Vice-President, Prime Minister, and Ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has approved housing applications worth over Dh1 billion for more than 1,300 citizens this month through the Zayed Housing Programme. The announcement, made via the social media platform X on Friday, highlights the UAE’s ongoing commitment to improving housing services and ensuring a higher quality of life for its residents.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the progress achieved over the past two years, stating that 13,000 housing applications for UAE citizens have been processed and approved during this period. Notably, the current waiting time for housing application approvals has been reduced to just two months—one of the shortest globally.

“Our goal is to develop an integrated system linking all financing and housing agencies, so approvals are granted within just one day,” Sheikh Mohammed said, reiterating his vision for improved services and a brighter future for Emirati citizens.

The Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme has also increased housing aid for beneficiaries building within designated residential compounds to Dh1.2 million, while aid for those building outside these areas is capped at Dh800,000.

In a related milestone, Sheikh Mohammed approved Dh1.68 billion in housing support in June 2024, which funded 2,160 new homes under the same programme. The streamlined housing process aligns with the UAE's Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, designed to eliminate unnecessary procedures and deliver efficient services to citizens.
