UAE Residents Seek Personal Touch in Digital Interactions: Survey Reveals Desired Traits in Human-Like AI Assistants
A recent survey conducted by Researchscape International, commissioned by Yango, highlights the growing desire among UAE residents for more personalized and human-like interactions with AI assistants. The survey, which included 500 participants, revealed key traits that consumers value in AI interactions, emphasizing the importance of personalization and accurate understanding.
The survey results showed that 66% of UAE residents prioritize AI assistants that can recognize individual family members and respond accordingly. Additionally, 63% of respondents expressed the need for AI to accurately understand various accents, speech patterns, and intonations, reflecting the linguistic diversity of the region. Proactive assistance and chat support were also significant, with 54% of participants valuing these features.
Interestingly, respondents also highlighted a sense of humor (43%) and the ability to understand and respond to whispered speech (34%) as desirable traits in an AI assistant. These findings underscore the importance of creating AI that can offer a more nuanced and empathetic interaction experience.
Yasmina, an AI assistant developed by Yango, exemplifies these desired traits with advanced capabilities. Yasmina can identify the user's gender and provide age-appropriate content, particularly when interacting with children. The assistant is also adept at telling culturally relevant jokes, resonating with the local audience.
A significant portion of survey respondents (63%) emphasized the need for an AI assistant proficient in Khaleeji Arabic, reflecting the linguistic needs of the UAE population. Yasmina meets this demand by understanding major Arabic dialects and seamlessly switching between Arabic and English during conversations, maintaining a natural and fluid dialogue.
Yasmina's unique conversational abilities are powered by an advanced large language model (LLM), which has been trained on a diverse array of datasets to capture the nuances of regional dialects, idioms, and cultural references. Samer Mohamad, Yasmina's Regional Director for MENA at Yango, noted, "At the core of Yasmina lies a powerful large language model, which enables it to continuously learn and enhance its knowledge and skills."
Currently available within Yango Play, an AI-powered entertainment super app, Yasmina offers video streaming, music, and mini-games in one platform. Plans are underway to integrate Yasmina into more devices and apps, expanding its reach and capabilities for engaging user interactions.
The survey was conducted online between February 7th and 20th, 2024, among 500 participants from the UAE
