UAE Government Leaders Programme organises training workshop to encourage innovation in government work
The UAE Government Leaders Programme in the Prime Minister's Office, in the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, organised a training workshop titled Designing Innovative Ideas to encourage young leaders to design their own innovative ideas in leading government work in line with the UAE National Innovation Strategy and UAE Vision 2021.
The workshop was attended by 36 participants in the creative leadership class of UAE Government Leaders Programme from the Federal and Local government levels as well as the private sector. Innovation experts from the University of Oxford addressed the participants as part of efforts to strengthen partnerships with academic and research institutions, and attract the best experts and specialists in this field.
The workshop included a meeting with the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation to familiarise the participants with the professional programmes of young employees. It also featured a session in collaboration with LinkedIn on creating a personal profile on social media channels.
Abdullah Bin Touq, Executive Director for Excellence and Leadership at the UAE Prime Ministers Office said the workshop aimed to strengthen participants skills and stimulate them to design innovative solutions in collaboration with the major international universities and specialised institutions.
The workshop helped in enhancing the capabilities of young leaders to discover innovators and build innovation teams in the government institutions to improve the quality of government services and achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction. It supported the process of government work in accordance with the UAE Vision and in line with the objectives of the National Innovation Strategy, added Bin Touq.
Mona Briki, Head of Capacity Building Department in the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation, explained aspects of the Government Leaders Programme and its role in preparing young Emiratis for jobs in international organisations such as the United Nations as well as other organisations within and outside the UAE. The Programme provides them with extensive experience to transform them into international leaders and experts, she said.
In order to join the Programme, an applicant must be a citizen of the United Arab Emirates with a master's degree and practical experience of not less than two years. The applicant needs to be fluent in English in addition to one of the supported languages in the United Nations, she added.
