Smart Mobility International Signs Landmark Partnership with IM Motors to Launch Premium Electric Vehicles in UAE and Saudi Arabia
In a strategic move poised to accelerate the electric vehicle (EV) revolution in the Gulf region, Smart Mobility International (SMI) has signed a pivotal distribution agreement with Chinese EV innovator IM Motors. The collaboration will introduce IM Motors’ premium electric vehicles to the UAE and Saudi Arabia, beginning with the launch of the IM LS7 SUV.
The signing ceremony took place at IM Motors' first UAE showroom, located on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, and was attended by key dignitaries, including Sheikh Saif Bin Mohammed Bin Butti Al Hamed. The agreement was formalized between Mr. Liu Tao, Co-CEO of IM Motors, and Mr. Moutaz Louis, CEO of SMI.
IM Motors, a high-tech electric vehicle manufacturer backed by SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group, and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech, is set to make its GCC debut through this partnership, with the UAE as the launchpad and Saudi Arabia next on the expansion roadmap.
Unveiling the IM LS7: A New Standard in Luxury EVs
During the event, guests were introduced to the IM LS7, a fully electric luxury SUV designed to redefine the premium EV experience. The LS7 boasts a smart panoramic AI cockpit, state-of-the-art safety and connectivity features, and a spacious interior with high-end detailing.
A standout innovation is the vehicle's zero-gravity rear right seat, inspired by aerospace engineering. This ergonomic feature distributes body pressure evenly, creating a unique floating sensation that enhances comfort for passengers.
Driving a Sustainable Future
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Moutaz Louis shared his vision for the collaboration:
“Smart Mobility International is proud to be at the forefront of the new energy vehicle revolution in the region. As the exclusive distributor of IM Motors in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, we’re not just launching a new brand—we’re shaping a future defined by intelligent mobility, premium performance, and a deep commitment to sustainability.”
The initial rollout will feature the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) variant of the IM LS7, followed by a range-extended model. Later this year, the IM Motors portfolio in the region will expand to include the IM L7 sedan and IM LS6 SUV, both available in BEV and Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) formats.
Supporting National EV Goals
This partnership supports the UAE’s ambitious national EV strategy, which aims for 50% of all vehicles on the road to be electric by 2050. With plans already in motion for the Saudi Arabian market, SMI and IM Motors are strategically positioned to accelerate the region’s shift toward sustainable and intelligent mobility.
